I had hunted with another very well known and respected outfitter last year, and found Lonesome Dove Outfitter to be superior in just about every aspect. The food was mostly freeze dried because it just isn't feasible to take anything else into the mountains on a backpack hunt. We probably saw 50-70 goats in the three days that I was in the mountains (I killed my billy on the first day), and I would estimate that 20 of those were billies.
My goat scored 47 2/8" gross, and 47" net, well above the P&Y minimum of 40". I can't wait to get the billy home and get him into my game room!
After hearing about Jake's previous hunting accomplishments, I knew he would be a pleasure to hunt with. My expectations were fulfilled. He is in incredible physical condition and shoots very well. When the Mountain Goat opportunity presented itself, he was ready to make it work. We had tremendous cooperation from the weather, which made a huge difference. It snowed 4" after we got off the mountain, and fortunately that was our last Mountain Goat hunt for the year. Jake and I are now in pursuit of a brown bear for the next couple of days. If anyone has what it takes to take one of them with a bow, it is him. Hopefully his string of luck will continue.
