This was my first guided elk hunt. I chose to go guided to optimize my opportunities. I knew at 66 I would not be able to draw and hunt this unit again. It was money well spent. Duwane Adams, the outfitter when all out to make my dream hunt a reality. My guide Donnie was a joy to hunt with. I got to camp a few days early to acclimate to the altitude. A couple of days before the hunt began, Duwane and Frank, one of the guides, took me out looking for elk. Those few hours will be etched in my memory forever. When you hunt with Duwane, he books you for the entire 14 day season. He knows how good this tag is and wants you to enjoy it to the fullest. Many outfitters book for only 7 days and then charge as much as Duwane. I hunted for a day and then took my bull @ 7:00 the second morning. Duwane told me that I could stay in camp and enjoy the experiece as long as I wished. A couple of bowsiters pointed me to Duwane.

We had a lot of rain leading up to the hunt and had rain and hail during the hunt. I do not think the weather had any effects on the hunt.
