Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

This hunt was amazing! It was the best outfitted hunt that I have ever been on in my entire life and I have been on several here recently. The first morning of the hunt was awesome and had I been on top of things I probably would have had a shot in the first hour, but could only get to 70 yards of a big shooter, well 4 shooters and one young one actually, but you get the idea. The first evening offered the first shot of the trip for me. I shot right as the buck wheeled to leave...clean miss. I was hoping for a shot at the huge 31 inch wide buck behind this one, but I couldn't pass up this guys in full velvet standing at 25 yards. The one I missed was probably in the 145 range and the big guy was likely 185 or so. The majority of the hunt is spent driving from glassing area to glassing area looking for a buck to either stalk in his bed or intercept at an ambush spot. I don't know the exact figure, but the outfitter has around 1/2 million acres to hunt, so there are plenty of spots to glass.

I didn't have a lot of luck stalking in the still conditions that we were having, but I was having a blast. On the 5th day of the hunt we had the perfect opportunity to nudge some bucks out of there beds towards a saddle where I was sitting. Me and the cameraman got around on a group of 5 bucks and sat in a saddle with a trail passing through it. We gave our guide Chad the signal and he stood up to slowly push the bucks our direction. The buck stopped at 42-44 yards and I took the shot. Unfortunately, the 30-40 mile an hour wind gust blew my arrow off at least 16 inches. However, I got lucky and hit the buck in one of the major arteries in the neck and the buck bled out pretty quickly.

You can watch the hunt here http://www.midwestwhitetail.com/gallery/78/media/2419/mo1011-giant-mule-deer.html

Would absolutely recommend this hunt to anyone wanting a big velvet mulie. In fact, I may see you there as I plan to go back or another adventure.
