I hunted with my son Kyle at the Boneyard, his second time hunting there. He passed up several small bucks on opening morning, and we both saw a lot of deer. We sat on stand until about 10:30, then went to the truck for a break. As we were having a sandwich, three does ran right across the road in front of the truck. I told Kyle "We need to get back on stand buddy." The rut was on fire and deer were moving all day. We got back on stand, and about 1:30 a dandy 8-pointer came into a scent wick about 20 yards from the stand. Kyle drew a bead (with his new Hawke Optics scope) and drilled him. He was stoked, as was I. Nothing is better than spending time with my son, and watching him take a beautiful buck. The key to killing deer is pretty simple- be patient and listen to the guides!
