I do not recommend this outfitter

This was my NINTH hunt with HVO. On previous hunts, the deer were plentiful and the trophy quality was high. The food in past years was excellent. The outfitter lost his best lease (the Nelson Ranch) and the guide I was assigned had never set foot on the hunting area. We saw perhaps 75-85% fewer deer than in prior years, and only two shooters in five hard days of hunting. Stretches of road where we'd see 20-30 deer in a five mile stretch yielded ZERO sightings in five days. Although the cook has remained the same for all nine of my HVO hunts, she just stopped caring about the quality of her cooking. In six breakfasts, we never saw a piece of bacon, nor a slice of toast. One morning there was no coffee, and another morning no coffee cups. After nine trips to hunt there, it was a total disappointment. I know it's hunting not shooting, but the effort at least has to be there. Of the eight hunters in camp, only two 3X3's were shot. One was a first deer for a young hunter, so I have no problem with that.

Was the outfitter notified of problems? - NO

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

Thanks BUD for past patronage with us and your'NINTH' hunt with us.

My only comment is a past quote from Bud. Nov. 18,2007 “This was my sixth hunt with HVO, and it just keeps getting better. Got a nice buck after a 1 mile stalk with Troy, who is an outstanding guide, As always, Harriet cooked exquisite meals. I’ll be back for hunt number 7 with HVO in either 2008 or 2009."
