I do not recommend this outfitter

I was in camp for the entire week to hunt bears over bait. I did and took a small bear the first day with my rifle. My sons came in on day 4 and hunted three days with hounds. We did not get what we paid for because on the second day of hound hunting one of the guides decided not to show up and that sent one of the boys back to camp. That left one day of hunting for 4 people to kill 4 bears on two hound hunts. Just not going to happen in northern Maine. Chad has admitted that he short changed us but refuses to compensate for part of the trip. In addition to the guide shortage he did take them in the afternoon to hunt over bait. Bait sites that had dogs run on them. Not good. He also told the hunters as they were getting out of the truck to go to the bait sites that they were not going to see anything. This was very discouraging. My advice (and the advice that you would get from the other hunters in camp that week and from people that were from Maine) is not to use Oxbow Lodge Outfitters. If you do decide to call and discuss a hunt make sure you ask very specific questions and do not let him (Chad) talk all around the issue, make him answer. We have already been recommended to an outfitter that is one of his competitors. Sadly, we had a great time in '13 when we went with him.
