Ignace Outposts is an excellent outfitter. They operate a number of comfortable cabins well equipped and maintained. The access to hunt areas is by boat and very demanding when it comes to personal clothing and gear. Make sure you have enough warm / dry socks (1 pair a day minimum), and good hunting rubber boots such as Muck Wetland. Also, dress in layers with silent clothing to account for temperature swings during the day.
I hunted hard for 12 days and managed to call in two bull moose and one cow (no tag), all no shot. I have seen one other cow while boating to hunting areas. As a hunter you have to be able to stay still, noiseless, and focused for the duration of the hunt. Only the caller can and should make any noises when the moose is closing in. It is imperative when bow hunting to have a guide or another hunter willing to work as hard as you. Moose will hang 60-80 yards out of the calling place making it difficult to stalk. With two people, one will call and the other will position ahead 80 yards making the shot.
It was fun and I will be going back in 2016 now that I have learned all my lessons the hard way. Anyone interested in going please contact me. Moose is there and if I was able to call it in on my first moose hunt after few weeks of call practice so can you. Good luck.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
Weather was excellent for moose hunting after the first day.
