I recommend this outfitter

If you are looking for a quality outfitter made up of a bunch of great guys that truly care about your hunt, then look no further. This was my 4th year back with Alan Carter and his crew and I cannot say enough great things about Two Bear Outfitters. What stands out the most to me is that these guys bust their tails to make sure that you not only have a great hunt, but that you enjoy the experience overall. I've done both drop camp and base camp, hunted in hot weather, snow/rain, and have covered all kinds of terrain (burns, blowdowns, creek bottoms, meadows, and more). The territory is fantastic and it holds elk!

My buddies and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Alan and his crew over the past several years and again, they are a great group of guys. Another reviewer said it best: "Alan is a straight shooter." He genuinely cares that you have a great time and wants to put you on a bull. We've hunted with several of his guides including Franco, Rich, Jeremy and Alan himself. We started out relatively new to elk hunting and the guides were awesome in helping us get up to speed. We prefer to hunt on our own, so the guys have tailored each hunt to our experience level each year. Year one was semi guided and now it's morphed into them feeding us scouting/calling tips and tricks before we head out on our own each morning. They are extremely knowledgeable and know the area like the back of their hand.

This year, Franco ran camp while Alan guided a couple lodge hunts. He did an awesome job and everything ran smoothly. The pack in/out with the stock was quick and efficient, camp was fully stocked with food, stoves, quality tents and cots, TP, everything you need! Franco and the rest of the crew are all fully capable and they are an extension of Alan and his dedicated approach to guiding clients. The cook (Dalton) crushed it with the food! Incredible variety and a great spread for every single breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rich (guide and all around great guy/outdoorsman) and Auburn (camp jack and Alan's son) didn't let us lift a finger, which was tough for us! But that's how these guys operate, they work hard. Royce (packer) clearly knows how to handle stock and it was great to watch him interact with the guys. They all help each other out and learn from each other, and their team only gets better each trip.

This year, I was the fortunate one from our group to harvest a nice 5x5 bull. Out of the four years we've been, our group of 4 has taken 3 nice bulls (should've been at least 6-7 bulls... our fault...). The start of the week this year was hot, with bulls bugling everyday. That hasn't always been the case, but each year is different. We've killed bulls on very quiet years and you just need to remember that it's elk hunting and to stay positive. Even when it's been quiet, we've had many opportunities. When it happens, it happens fast! To give yourself the best chance, I highly recommend being in good shape. We cover about 8-10 miles a day on average. If you cant do that, its okay. There are plenty of elk close to camp! The guides will point you in the right direction and get you into them.

Overall, I highly recommend Two Bear Outfitters. They feel less like an outfitter and more like part of your hunting party. They are polite, work hard for you, and have a great sense of humor! I'm already thinking about next year, so book with these guys fast!

Thanks again Alan, Franco, Rich, Dalton, Auburn, and Royce! It was one heck of a great year!
